I registered but haven't received a response yet?
We submit the background checks in bulk so it generally takes a few days to a week for us to receive approval back. Once we do you will receive an email with instructions on what to expect and what you'll need to bring.
Can I carpool with other volunteers or will Impact provide transportation?
While we occasionally have room in the vans we want to take as many kids as possible so we ask that volunteers drive themselves or carpool together.
What do I need to bring?
In general we ask that volunteers bring a backpack, their own lunch and snacks. While every event is different you will receive specific instructions on what to bring in your confirmation email.
Are my kids allowed to come?
Volunteers are always welcome to bring their kids to any of our events and children under the age of 16 do not need to register. With that said though please make sure that the kids we're taking from the shelter are your main focus. Each volunteer will be assigned two kids and it's important that they have your attention because most of these kids have never been in the mountains.
What's the schedule and can I leave early if necessary?
We will meet at Coffee at the Point at 7:30am and prep lunches and gear for the kids until 8am then head over to the shelters to pick up the kids. After that we will head up to the event location where we'll usually be for a couple of hours before having lunch and heading back to the shelters arriving between 2 and 2:30pm. If a volunteer needs to they may leave after we have lunch and load up the kids in the vans to head back.
